BESSIE N. BAKER

Bessie Evans Narron Baker, 84, 1033 Rosewood Road, died Wednesday at her home.
Mrs. Baker was born in Wayne County to the late Ben Evans and Myrtle Dail Evans. She was a retired newspaper carrier for the Goldsboro News-Argus with 40 years of service. Mrs. Baker owned and operated a ceramics shop for many years, and taught ceramics and doll making. She had a great love for music, dancing and her plants.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Hester officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband, Lewie A. Baker; her children, Robert Samuel Varner and wife, Rebecca Ann Varner, of Goldsboro and Patricia Varner Norris and husband, Douglas M. Norris, of Goldsboro; her stepdaughter, Bridget Melrose of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Patricia Kate Daniels, Joseph Andrew Varner and wife, Staci Varner, Douglas M. Norris Jr. and wife, Kay S. Norris, Valerie McAnallen and husband, Bob McAnallen, Amanda Badgley, Linda L. Newsome and husband, Jack Newsome, Anthony Melrose and Leah Melrose; 13 great-grandchildren; and her beloved pet, Shadow.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.
