GROTON, Conn. -- Funeral services for Robert Lee Oates, 66, who died April 11, 2007 at Wayne Memorial Hospital will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel, Goldsboro, with the Rev. Leon Bryant officiating. Interment will be in the Andrews Chapel M.B. Church Cemetary, Clinton.
Mr. Oates was born in Faison to the late Livie and Martha Oates and was a member of the St. Johns Christian Church, Groton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Oates; sisters, Annabelle Oates, Dorothy Shambley, Louise Royal and Joyce Hall; brothers, Willie James, Clarence, Jessie James, Henry and Paul Oates.
He is survived by two daughters, Christine Bryan of Groton, Conn., and Sherri Peake of Goldsboro; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
