CHARLES PHILLIP CREECH

PRINCETON -- Charles Phillip Creech, Major USAF retired, 68, formerly of Grantsboro, died Thursday evening in Johnston Memorial Hospital. Born in Durham, he was a son of the late William Aaron and Eva Inez Peele Creech and was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise E.M. Creech. Major Creech served during the Vietnam War as a part of the "Wild Weasels." He was a member of the Pamlico County Chapter of the VFW, the Creek Point Sportsman's Association, where he served as secretary and treasurer for 12 years and a proud member of the NRA.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the Rev. Jimmy Earp officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in the Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, with the Rev. Patricia Arrowood officiating.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Woodruff Creech, daughters, Wendy Elizabeth Ganza of Denver, Colo., Shirley Hollomon of Brogden, Velma Runyon, of Smithfield and Susie Robinson of Clayton; sons, Phillip Randall Creech of Hollywood, Calif., P.J. Creech of Bridgeton and Tony Eason of Wilson's Mills, brother, Jimmy Creech, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
