RUBY P. SPENCE

MOUNT OLIVE -- Ruby Pruitt Spence, 71, 373 Harrell's Hill Road, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Born in Stuart, Va., she was the daughter of the late William T. and Rebecca Pencie Dunkley Pruitt. She was the wife of the late Hollis Cornelious Spence. A member of Peace Baptist Church in Calypso, she had been employed with Piggly Wiggly in Mount Olive. Prior to retirement, she had been employed with J.P. Stevens for 24 years.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park with Ken Powell officiating.
Mrs. Spence is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, James Kenneth and Mary Goin of Stokes, Gregory Allen Spence and Hollis Chad Spence, both of Mount Olive; daughter, Ruby Dawn Hardison of Mount Olive; brothers, George Pruitt of Wakefield, Va., and Harvey Pruitt of Stuart, Va.; sisters, Kenzie Penland of Madison; grandchildren, Tasha Lynn, Christy Renee, Brian Christopher, Brittany Leigh, Karen Ellane, Nathan Tyler, Ryan Christopher, Lisa Marie, Edgar Scott Nelson, Joseph Ray Nelson, and Sarah Christine McPhillips; great-grandchildren, Dakota Ariel, Desmond Shaun, Joseph Hanes, Lilly Harding and Molly Harding.
Family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
