DR. ROGER A. SMITH III

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Dr. Roger Alexander Smith III, 84, died Feb. 19, 2007 at his home.
Dr. Smith was a neurosurgeon for 46 years in private practice and on staff at St. Bernardine Medical Center, San Bernardino County Hospital, Loma Linda University Medical Center and Jerry L. Pettis Veterans Hospital. He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army medical services.
Graveside services will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery, Goldsboro with the Rev. Jerry Smith presiding.
Dr. Smith is survived by his wife, Elena; daughters, Terry Rae and Candy Trick; sons, Jerry W. and Frank Smith; brother, William Smith of Goldsboro; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Smith and a son, Roger A. Smith IV.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Johnston County Heritage Center, 241 E. Market St., Smithfield, N.C. 27577.
Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Goldsboro.
