Connie Best Sr., 60, 419 Whitfield Drive, died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Wayne County, a former member of Thompson Chapel FWB Church and The Light of the World Missionary Baptist Church, a former employee of Wayne Memorial and Cherry Hospitals, and a soloist and member of the Thompson Chapel Gospel Singers.
Mr. Best was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lissie Baker Best; sisters, Emma and Betty Rose Best; brother, Raymond Best Jr.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bear Creek Association Headquarters Building, 1800 S. Slocumb St., with Elder Nathan Darden officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Mill Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Daniels Best of the home; son, the Rev. Connie Best Jr. of Goldsboro; daughter, Joyce Best Grady of Goldsboro; brothers, Otis, Larry, and Linwood Best, all of Goldsboro, Cassius Best of Atlanta, Ga., Walter Battle of Goldsboro; sister, Carrie Ann Peterson of Burlington.
Viewing will be Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries.
