LORRAINE P. HILL

Nov. 7, 1918 -- March 15, 2007

Lorraine Parks Hill, 88, died Thursday at Classic Country Care in Kinston. Mrs. Hill was a native of Wayne County and was the daughter of Mack David and Sallie Sutton Parks. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buckner "Buck" Hill; six brothers, Randolph, J.C., Wesley, Morris, Dempsey and William Parks; three sisters, Victoria Morrison, Mary Elizabeth Timmons and Sallie Smith. Mrs. Hill graduated in 1938 from Seven Springs High School, where she played on the basketball team which won the state championship. Mrs. Hill married and became a housewife and partner in farming with her husband. She was a very special mother and grandmother and a wonderful role model for her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Hill was a longtime member of Long Ridge Free Will Baptist Church.

Services will be held this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home in Goldsboro with the Rev. Frank Harrison officiating. Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hill is survived by her son, Dwight Hill and friend, Francis Smith of Mount Olive; two daughters, Scarlett Howard and husband, John Currin Howard Jr. of Deep Run, Linda Mills and husband, Randy Mills of Seminole, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Mike Hill, Dwight Hill Jr., Randall Hill, Allison Hill, Leraine Collier, Dr. Currie Howard, Johna Casey and Vivian Howard; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The Hill family will visit with friends and family immediately following the service at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home on Sunday and at other times the family will be at the home, 117 Buck Hill Road, Mount Olive, N.C. 28365.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Long Ridge Free Will Baptist Church, c/o Karen Knowles, 1370 Tram Road, Mount Olive, N.C. 28365 and to Home Health and Hospice Care, Inc., 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Classic Country Care and Home Health Hospice Care for their love, dedication and care for Mrs. Hill.
