LAGRANGE -- James Allen "Tiger" Brown, 71, 1794 Jenny Lind Road, died Sunday at his home. James Allen was born in La Grange to the late Julian and Nannie Herring Brown. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor's degree in agricultural education. He taught in the public school system for a number of years and was presently working in agri-business with Cardinal Chemicals. James Allen was a member of White Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church and was very active in the Layman's League. He was also a member of Bucklesberry Ruritan Club.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Greg Stancil officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Fairview Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Wall Brown; sons, Julian Ernest Brown of the home and Larry Arnold Brown and wife, Melony, of La Grange; and grandchildren, Matthew and Christopher Brown of La Grange.
