HOOKERTON -- Bobby Murphy Jones, 70, died Sunday at his residence. A native of Greene County, he was born the son of Jasper Lee and Gertrude Murphy Jones. He operated B & J Tire in Kinston until 2004 and was a member of the Tanglewood Church of God, Kinston.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service in Snow Hill, with pastor Tim Lanier and Allen Ham officiating. Interment will follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Ethleen Beaman Jones; daughter, Donna Jones Gearheart and husband, Terry, of Winterville; sons, Dennis Jones of Winterville and Scott Jones and wife, Dawn, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Nikki and Laken Jones, Joshua and Zachary Brewer, all of Winterville; brothers, Jimmie Lee Jones of Farmville and Tommy Jones of Hookerton; and a special family friend, Jo Bishop of Hookerton.
Family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 2017 Hwy 123 N, Hookerton.
