HAZELLE S. WATKINS

Hazelle Selby Watkins, age 91, of Goldsboro died Monday evening at The Brian Center. She was born in Washington, N.C. to the late Herman G. and Rosalie H. Selby. Mrs. Watkins was a graduate of Louisburg College and attended Blackstone College in Virginia. She was employed as an executive secretary for Kemp Furniture in Goldsboro prior to her marriage and later worked with R.J. Reynolds in Winston-Salem, N.C. When her beloved husband, William H. Watkins, who preceded her in death, retired in 1976, they returned to make their home in Goldsboro.
She was a member of St. Luke's Methodist Church and was an avid bridge player and enjoyed reading and visiting with friends. Her family and friends will miss her love, companionship and caring nature.
Mrs. Watkins is survived by a sister, Mabel Valentine and husband, Robert, of Cham-paign, Ill.; nephews, Robert Valentine Jr. and wife, Sally, of Huntington Beach, Calif., William Pritchard Jr. and wife, Susan, of Waxhaw, N.C., Herman Pritchard and wife, Shirley, of Wilmington, N.C. and Tom Pritchard of Victorville, Calif., along with a host of great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Selby Jr.; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and William Pritchard; and nephew, George Valentine.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Willowdale Cemetery at 11 a.m.
The family wishes to thank the Brian Center of Goldsboro for their loving care. Memorial gifts to celebrate Mrs. Watkins life may be made to any Hospice and Palliative care facility of choice.
