GULFPORT, Fla. -- John Hunter Bryan, 47, formerly of Goldsboro, died Saturday at Hospice House, Palms of Pasadena Hospital, Clearwater, Fla.
He was born in Goldsboro to E. Lewis and Tonia R. Bryan. He is a graduate of American University in Washington, D.C. where he earned bachelor of science degree in international studies and the University of South Carolina where he earned a master's degree in public administration. He served as an intern for Congressman Charles Whitley of North Carolina's Third Congressional District and prior to moving to Florida, he worked for the Federal Elections Commission in Washington, D.C.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Beaufort. The rector, the Rev. John Carlisto, will officiate and the Rev. Raby Edwards will assist. A private interment will take place at a later date.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie McIntyre Bryan; stepdaughter, Mandy Pierce of South Pasadena, Fla.; stepson, Clayton Pierce of Long Lane, Mo.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Lewis Bryan of Beaufort, formerly of Goldsboro; sister, Tonia Bryan Glasgow of Morehead City; brothers, E. Lewis Bryan Jr. of Beaufort, James C. Bryan of Raleigh; three nieces and three nephews.
The family will receive friends at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Parish House following the service.
