Rudolph Potter, 82, of Rose Street, died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral services will be tonight at 7 p.m. at Fort Run Pente-costal Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Turlington officiating. Graveside service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Potter was born in Duplin County to the late Robert and Addie Summerlin Potter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he received many decorations including the American Theater Service Medal, EAME Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, and the World War II Victor Medal. He was a member of the Purple Heart Association and the Disabled American Veterans Association. Mr. Potter was a member of Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church where he served as past Sunday School Teacher and Deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Potter; son, Christopher Myles Potter of Goldsboro; two grandchildren, Sydney and Myles Potter; and three special nieces, Rachael Holland, Shelva Jean Brock and Dorothy Kornegay.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends following the service tonight at Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and other times at the residence.
