ENFIELD -- Joe June Frederick Jr., died Saturday at Our Community Hospital, Scotland Neck. He was born in Duplin County to the late Bettie Armwood and Lemmie Frederick and attended Duplin County Public Schools. Mr. Frederick moved to Halifax County in 1947 and soon became a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be today at 1 p.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Enfield, with the Rev. J. W. Ellis officiating. Visitation was Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin "Abby" Armwood of Whitakers.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Isaac Frederick of the home; two sons, Joe L. Frederick of Uniondale, N.Y., and Collin Frederick of Battleboro; two daughters, Elease Frederick of Enfield and Jeanette Whitaker of Richmond, Va.; three brothers, James Thomas "Tom" Frederick of Mount Olive, Lenzy Ray "Buddy" Frederick of Goldsboro, William Hicks Frederick Sr., of Faison; two sisters, Betty Lou McCullen of Mount Olive and Alice Raye Parker of Goldsboro; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Clark Funeral Home.
