MALISSA G. GOFORTH

Malissa Godwin Goforth died peacefully Sunday at her residence after a period of declining health. A native of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Dock T. Godwin and Florence Ange Godwin. She was the widow of G. Mark Goforth Jr. Mrs. Goforth was a graduate of Western Carolina Teachers College and was a retired school teacher with the Wayne County and Goldsboro City School Systems. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thurmon Horney officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Nell Goforth Wiggins and husband, Tommy, of Goldsboro; two granddaughters, Malissa and Leslie Wiggins; three special sisters-in-law, Wallace Godwin, Caroline Butler and Helen Cox; and beloved nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials to be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, NC 27530.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at her residence.
