MARK WOODARD

Mark Woodard, 87, 1915 N. Berkeley Blvd., died Monday at home.

Graveside service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Princeton Cemetery in Princeton with pastor Lotis Joyner officiating.

He was born in Johnston County to the late Cyrus and Nina Woodard. Mr. Woodard was a veteran of the U. S. Army where he served in World War II. He also served during battles and campaigns including Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He received several decorations including Eamet Campaign Medal with five bronze stars and the American Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and the VFW. He was retired from Wayne County School Bus Garage.

Mr. Woodard is survived by his wife, Myrtle L. Woodard; one son, Jerry M. Woodard and his wife, Lisa, of Greenville; one brother, Issac Woodard of Princeton; and two sisters, Nina Wadsworth and her husband, Carl, of Goldsboro and Lettie Smart of Princeton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory, 1500 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, and other times at the residence.

Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 268, Raleigh, 27605.
