MOUNT OLIVE -- Alma Westbrook Herring, 93, died Saturday morning at Sun-Bridge Care and Rehabili-tation Center in Mount Olive where she had been a resident for several years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Sherman Dilley officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Herring was the daughter of the late Lovett & Emily Baker Westbrook and was the last surviving child in that family. She was widely known in Mount Olive for her child-care services, which she provided from her former home at 109 E. Southerland Street in Mount Olive. She was the widow of Robert S. Herring and was a member of the Northeast Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Robert Herring and wife, Ann, of Suffolk, Va., Willard "Bud" Herring and wife, Virginia, of Goldsboro, and Steve Herring and wife, Renee, of Mount Olive; three daughters, Carolyn H. Vinson and husband, James, of Mount Olive, Joyce H. Goodwin and husband, Palmer, of Hazelgreen, Ala., and Jane H. Jones and husband, David, of Pikeville; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for the Herring family is tonight from 6 until 8 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home; at other times, they will be at the home of Carolyn and James Vinson, 151 Crest Drive, Mount Olive.
