ARTHUR M. DARDEN
Died Dec. 22, 2006
DUNN -- Arthur Madison Darden, 83, died Friday at Duke Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh. The Johnston County native was the son of the late Ernest A. and Claudia G. Darden.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII and was an electrical contractor for 45 years before retiring. Mr. Darden was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
A funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe by Father Ned Shlesinger. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, LeRome Darden of Dunn; a son, Arthur L. Darden of Atlanta, Ga.; three daughters, Debbie Lockey of Raleigh, Rose Hahn of Horicon, Wis., Irene King of Hodgenville, Ky.; a sister, Rebecca Eacho of Rockville, Md.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary service at 5:30 p.m. at Skinner and Smith Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, P.O. Box 100 Newton Grove, 28366.
