MOUNT OLIVE -- Kitty Harris Williams Brogden, 95, a long-time resident of the Beautancus community, died Thursday.
Born in Lenoir County, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Nancy Wallace Harris. She was the widow of Robert Williams and Paul Brogden, and was a member of Stanford Presbyterian Church.
Her career in food service included employment at Mount Olive Jr. High School and North Duplin School cafeterias, and Mount Olive College cafeteria.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmie Swinson and the Rev. Doug Bartlett officiating. Immediately following the service, the family will remain at the funeral home to receive friends, and at other times at the home of Mrs. Boyden Roberts, 719 Beautancus Road, Mount Olive. Interment in Grant's Chapel Church Cemetery will be held privately.
"Kitty Ma" as she was known by her family, is survived by two daughters, Nancy W. Crapster of Salisbury, and Marie W. Roberts of Mount Olive; a sister, Bertie Archer of Chesapeake, Va.; six grandchildren, Jeff Crapster of Raleigh, Joe Crapster and wife, Julie, of Charlotte, John Crapster and wife, Marse, of Greensboro, Murray Roberts and wife, Vicky, of Mount Olive, Rosemary R. Massey and husband, Carl, of Newton Grove, and Beth R. McLamb and husband, Woody, of Clinton; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Bill Crapster and Boyden Roberts, along with several brothers and a sister.
Flowers are welcome, or memorial gifts may be directed to the Roberts-Swinson Endowment, Mount Olive College, 634 Henderson St., Mount Olive.
