Norwood Kendall "Ken" Gilbert, 76, 1420 Old Grantham Road, died Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. He was born in Harnett County to the late William Fletcher and Lessie Pearl Baucom Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served in the Korean War. He was an employee of Sears for 35 years retiring as Auto Center Manager for Sears in Burlington.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Holly Springs Baptist Church in Broadway by the Rev. Jerry Parsons and the Rev. Richard Toler. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Treva Knight Gilbert of the home; daughter, Kendra Gilbert Hatem of Goldsboro; sisters, Nell Freeman of Durham and Joyce Gilbert of Winston-Salem; three step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friend s from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.
