ANDERSON - Daniel Miller Edwards, 86, died Tuesday at St. Johns Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Elcorne, Ky.,to the late Twyman and Josephine Johnson Edwards. He retired from Delco Remy after 40 years where he worked as an inspector and was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army receiving the Purple Heart and two bronze stars.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 S. 5th, Middletown, with the Rev. Ryan VanMatre and the Rev. Marty Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery, Middletown.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lula Ellen Edwards of the home; son, David C. Edwards of North Webster; three daughters, Betty VanMatre of Anderson, Barbara Mills of Pikeville and Virginia Roland of Sarasota, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Ridenour of Fort Myers, Fla.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 4 to 8 p.m.
