Less than a half inch of snow expected Wednesday

Less than half an inch of snow could fall across Wayne County as a band of winter precipitation, possibly mixing with rain, is expected to move across the central part of the state Wednesday morning into the afternoon.
Snowfall accumulations are expected to range from a trace up to 1 to 2 inches, with the highest totals generally from the Triangle to the north and west.
The precipitation is likely to start as a cold rain or rain/snow mix, and should change to mostly or all snow before ending across the area.
No icing expected, but hazardous travel conditions will be possible Wednesday morning and afternoon.
It will be mostly sunny today, with a high near 41 and wind chill values as low as 13. Tonight it will be mostly clear with a low around 23.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 49, and then mostly cloudy with a low around 31 Tuesday night.
There is a 50 percent chance of rain and snow before 1 p.m. and then a chance of snow. The high will be near 39.
There is a 20 percent chance of snow before 1 am. Thursday with partly cloudy conditions and an expected low around 19.
In the daytime hours of Thursday it will be mostly clear with a low around 23.
Temperatures will be moderate over the weekend with a high near 57 on Saturday and near 64 on Sunday.
