Goldsboro police have made a second arrest in the Oct. 11 shooting of 60-year-old Robert Baymon at his home at 516 Eason St. that led to his eventual death.
Earlier this week police announced the arrest of Kendall Shane Price, 23, of the 600 block of Sanderson Road, Seven Springs, who is charged with murder.
Police announced a second arrest late Friday, that of Anthony Rhodes Barnes, 22, on an open count of murder. At the time of this report, neither a mug shot nor an address were available on Barnes.
Police had said earlier in the investigation that additional arrests were pending. Further arrests are now unlikely, but the investigation is ongoing, according to a news release.
Baymon reportedly let two people into his house at about 2:58 a.m., and they tried to rob him. Initial reports indicated Baymon did not know the men. When he defended himself against the robbery, he was shot.
Maj. Anthony Carmon, head of the Goldsboro Police Department's Investigative Services Bureau, said Baymon was shot twice in the abdomen.
Baymon did not immediately die from his wounds.
He was taken to Wayne UNC Health Care, and the transferred hours later to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Baymon was listed in critical condition, and then died from his wounds on Oct. 18.
Carmon said the victim never told police why he let the men into his home the night he was shot.
Price was arrested Wednesday at about 9:35 a.m. at 109 S. Ormond Ave. -- the Wayne County Probation and Parole Office -- without incident.
Price is being held without bond in the Wayne County Detention Center. Barnes' bond had not yet been disclosed at the time of this report.
Additional information is expected to be released once Barnes has been interviewed and processed, according to police.
