A 58-year-old man decided not to prosecute his stepson after the 23-year-old allegedly hit him over the head with a coffee table during an argument Wednesday night.
The man and his stepson got into an argument that escalated when his stepson pushed him to the ground, according to a report filed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
The stepson then allegedly picked up a coffee table and slammed it onto his stepfather's head, causing a laceration to the top of the man's head.
Law enforcement and EMS responded to the scene, but the stepson had already left.
The victim refused to be taken to the hospital by EMS, and signed a non-prosecution form, the report said.
Law enforcement then advised him of the eviction process and how to get a restraining order if he desires.
