A man has been charged with an open count of murder today for the shooting death of a 21-year-old in October of last year.
Ormond Qudre Cobb, 26, 210 W. Pine St., is accused of shooting Shai Taylor Valentine in the 100 block of Astor Court on Oct. 28, according to a press release from the Goldsboro Police Department.
In the early morning hours of Oct. 28 -- around 1 a.m. -- police responded to a call of shots being fired on Astor Court. When police arrived, they found Valentine unresponsive behind the apartments where he was later pronounced dead.
In April of the is year, authorities asked for help from the public, soliciting any information in the death of Valentine.
Valentine's death was one of seven that remained unsolved in the city in 2016.
Cobb was charged while he was in the Wayne County Detention Center on an unrelated attempted murder charge, the press release said.
He will remain in jail without bond until his first appearance on Monday in Wayne County District Court.
