Upcoming blood drives scheduled

Before busy summer schedules set in, the American Red Cross urges eligible donors to roll up a sleeve to help ensure a sufficient supply for patients in need.

Donors of all blood types are needed now to help accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those receiving cancer treatment.

Here are the dates and locations of upcoming blood drives in the Wayne County area:

* May 24, 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., O'Berry Center, 400 Old Smithfield Road, Building 702.

* June 1, 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Butterball Corporate, 501 N Oak Forest Road.

* June 2, 1:30 p.m,. - 6 p.m., Maynards in Seven Springs, 5404 N.C. 55 East.

* June 6, 1:30 p.m. - 6 p.m., Goldsboro Family YMCA, 1105 Parkway Drive.

* June 8 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., Wayne County American Red Cross, 600 N George St.

* June 9, 7:30 a.m. - noon, Wayne Memorial Hospital, 2700 Wayne Memorial Drive.

* June 9, noon - 4:30 p.m., Wayne Memorial Hospital, 2700 Wayne Memorial Drive

* June 13, 1:30 p.m. - 6 p.m., Wayne County American Red Cross, 600 N George St.

* June 17, 11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Berkeley Mall, 614 Berkeley Blvd.
