One man is dead and another is facing charges after a wreck in Duplin County Sunday evening in which a car ran off the road and flipped over twice, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Billy John Hannah, 34, of Wallace, was driving his 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck north on N.C. 903 when he ran off the road around 4:51 p.m., according to Janet Lewis, secretary to the Duplin County highway patrol office.
Hannah over-corrected and came back onto the road, causing his car to flip over twice and land upside down, Lewis said.
Jesse Dale Harrell, 29, of Teachey, died in the wreck, according to Lewis. He was riding in the front passenger seat.
There were two minors in the vehicle, Lewis said.
Hannah is charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to maintain lane control.
While the crash happened after a winter storm blew through the region Saturday, weather was not a factor in the wreck, Lewis said.
