A Goldsboro man faces multiple gun and drug charges as a result of the Goldsboro/Wayne County Drug Task Force's ongoing effort to clamp down on illegal drug trafficking across the county.
David Abraham Macias, 20, of 3201 Central Heights Road lot 202, is charged with trafficking cocaine by possession, trafficking heroin by possession, maintaining a dwelling for the sale of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of possession of a stolen firearm.
According to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office news release, the task force was aided in its investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Raleigh Resident Office and the N.C. Department of Public Safety division of probation and parole.
As part of the investigation, the joint-task force executed a search warrant on Macais' home and found tens of thousands of dollars worth of drugs and two stolen guns inside.
Macias is alleged to have had $80,000 in cocaine -- 800 grams -- and $14,000 worth of heroin in his possession.
Maj. Tom Effler said he could not go into detail on how the investigation was conducted, but as result of the task force's efforts a warrant was obtained leading to the drugs and weapons being discovered.
"They were able to establish probable cause and get a search warrant issued," he said. "They executed the warrant at his residence and found drugs."
As of Monday, Macias remained in Wayne County Jail under a $315,000 secured bond.
Macias is next scheduled to appear in Wayne County District Court Oct. 11.
