An 81-year-old Eureka man with dementia and memory loss was reported missing by his daughter on Tuesday.

Arthur Pickens, of 104 Jones St., Eureka, was last seen wearing a dark blue ball cap, a white dress shirt, black pants and black shoes.

Pickens' daughter reported that her father was missing to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, and told the sheriff's office that Pickens had left the residence for unknown location.

According to a report on the incident, Pickens' daughter said he has not been taking his medication for his dementia and memory loss and recently walked to the Wayne and Wilson County line in an attempt to travel to Washington, D.C.

Pickens is described as being a 6-foot-tall black man, weighing 170 pounds.

In addition to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, authorities in Wilson County, Stantonsburg and Greene County were notified of Pickens' disappearance.

A BOLO alert and silver alert were also issued for Pickens.

The information has also been entered into the National Crime Information Center.

Anyone with information on Pickens' whereabouts is asked to contact the Wayne County Sheriff's Office at 919-731-1481.
