Suspect faces rape, sexual offense charge

A Goldsboro man accused of rape and sexual offenses against a minor is in custody today, according to a Goldsboro police report.
Brian Keith King, 20, 311B Charles St., is charged with three counts each of statutory rape and statutory sexual offense. He is currently being held in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond.
Maj. Anthony Carmon said the alleged sex offenses were first reported Sunday by members of the victim's family.
Carmon could disclose little information regarding the case due to the nature of the crime being investigated. He said the preliminary investigation was handled by the patrol side of the police department and the arrest came rather quickly.
"We are very happy about that," Carmon said.
The investigation, still ongoing, now shifts to the Criminal Investigation Division for follow-up.
