First responders tend to one of three people who were shot Wednesday.
Goldsboro police have identified a suspect in a shooting outside Beestown Grocery on Slocumb Street just after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Three people were wounded, one in the face.
Malik Ward, 17, 306 Wilmington Ave., is wanted on three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and one count of firing into an occupied vehicle.
According to a press release, Ward exited the store, shot one man in the face and exchanged fire with another, resulting in two more being shot.
Robert Lee Cole, 20, of Olivia Lane and Tyron Tasheem Jones, 23, of West Pine Street were both airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
While responding to the shots fired call at Beestown, officers noticed a white sedan leaving the scene at a high rate of speed, according to a police report.
That vehicle, a 1993 Buick Century, eventually came to a stop on Royall Avenue near the Wayne Child Development Center. Inside the car, police found Cole with a gunshot wound to the face.
A bullet hole marked the center of the vehicle's windshield. The rear window had been shot out.
Wayne County EMS took Cole to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where two more victims were later identified.
Jones and another man, Kendall Edward Boone, 23, of Porter Street, arrived in private vehicles at the hospital with gunshot wounds to the left leg and right foot, respectively.
Cole and Jones were both later airlifted to Greenville.
Back at Beestown, officers marked off where they found shell casings so that crime scene unit investigators would be able to photograph and collect the evidence.
At least 12 shell casings littered the grocery's parking lot.
Investigators and patrol officers worked the Beestown, Royall Avenue and Wayne Memorial Hospital scenes simultaneously, trying to determine what took place.
Investigators learned the identity of the shooter, but have not yet been able to locate him.
