FREMONT -- A 22-year-old Hispanic male traveling west on Hooks Road northwest of Fremont was killed Sunday at approximately 8:15 p.m. when his car ran off the road and struck a concrete bridge.
The name of the driver and details of what caused the accident were not available from the state Highway Patrol as of press time today, as troopers attempt to notify the victim's next of kin.
No other vehicles were involved.
The Fremont Volunteer Fire Department, Wayne County Emergency Medical Services and several officers with the state Highway Patrol responded to the accident.
Rescue workers had to cut away part of the car to get to the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle.
The road was closed for several hours while rescue personnel worked the scene.
