Charles A. Newton smiles while sitting next to his daughter Sallie Bluff during the celebration of his 100th birthday at Sterling House last week. Newton was born on April 3, 1913, in Starksboro, Vt. He worked as a machinist at General Motors for over 25 years until he retired 41 years ago. Known for being a card player, he was a cribbage champion in his younger days. Newton has four children, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
