Jameson Inn in Goldsboro was recently acquired by Choice Hotels International's Quality Inn chain.
The Jameson Inn on Harding Drive is now operating as a Quality Inn as Choice Hotels International has taken over some of the chain's locations in the Southeast as part of a nationwide foreclosure deal involving some 100 Jameson-owned hotels.
Tim Brinson, manager of the hotel, said the transition at the Goldsboro location went into effect Dec. 14, but that all employees were retained.
The Jameson Inn sign has now been covered with a Quality Inn sign, identifying it as a member of the Choice Hotel family.
Brinson said there will be more changes to the hotel's look in the weeks and months to come to bring it within compliance of Choice Hotel standards, and said he and his staff were excited for the transition, which should help guests in the county by bringing another Choice option.
"It's exciting for us, and to have another Choice hotel in the market, I think is really good," he said.
The Jameson Inn shakeup this month also included a separate move in which Argila Jameson Brand, an affiliate of Atlanta-based JER Partners, sold 12 properties under Jameson license agreements in Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia and Illinois to America's Best Franchising.
America's Best intends to revamp the brand, according to a press release.
"Jameson is an award-winning name that is known for its dependability and its quality by both the hospitality industry and the traveling public," Doug Collins, chairman chief executive officer of America's Best Franchising, said in the release. "We expect to grow the brand significantly by launching franchise sales throughout the United States and around the world."
America's Best operates its own inns and suites as well as the Budgetel, Country Hearth and Parkside hotel chains.
