Little Miss Daffodil Morgan Yelverton, front, and Miss Daffodil Amanda Edmundson, back, sit in the gazebo in downtown Fremont. The girls were crowned festival princesses on Sunday.

Are you ready for spring and the smell of daffodils?

The Fremont Daffodil Festival is scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the festivities will begin with opening ceremonies along with the Fremont Memorial Park recognition, the arts and crafts show and sale and Fremont Preschool performing.

The Daffodil Park Memorial Service will begin at 10:30 a.m., and Jingles the Clown and the Charles B. Aycock Vocal Ensemble will begin at 11 a.m.

The Embers will perform on Stage 2 from 1 to 3 p.m., and Fremont STARS will perform on Stage 1 from 3 to 3:30 p.m.

The Fremont Heritage Museum, Daffodil Exhibit at Blossoms and Blooms Florist and Gifts, the Vintage Farm Equipment Display and Children's Alley will be open all day.

In inclement weather, the festival will be moved to Fremont Elementary School, festival organizer Keith Stewart said.

But, "at this point, we are still planning to have it outside," he said.

Stewart said organizers will make the call Saturday morning as to whether they will move the festival, but said, either way, that everything will continue as planned.

Some of the displays and other festivities will be held in the gym, and "entertainment will be in the auditorium," he said.
