Mrs. McIntyre

Akailah Tulani Jenkins and Jordan Tarell McIntyre of Washington, D.C., exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony March 25, 2018 at 5 p.m. at The Charleston Yact Club in Charleston, S.C., with Mrs Ansley Gathers officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Danell and Delesline Miller of Ladson, S.C., and Benjamin and Enchanta Jenkins and the granddaughter of Frederick and Ella Gathers of Mount Pleasant, S.C.

She graduated from Vanderbilt University with two Bachelor of Arts degrees in sociology and American studies and a master’s degree in education from Vanderbilt as well.

She is employed as an English educator at Capital City Charter School.

The groom is the son of David and Sonlita King Brown of Goldsboro and Mr. Earl McIntyre Jr. and the grandson of Mrs. Lillie Mae King, the late Donald C. King and the late Mr and Mrs Earl McIntyre Sr. all of Goldsboro.

He is a 2014 graduate of North Carolina State University with two bachelor degrees in aerospace engineering and philosophy.

He is employed as a senior business consultant at KPMG.

The bride was escorted by her fathers and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a floor-length sleeveless mermaid gown designed by Hailey Paige.

It extended into a chapel train with banding along the edges.

She wore a double veil, which extended into a chapel train as well.

She carried a large handtied bouquet of white alabaster garden roses, white river roses, pink lady roses, blue hydrangeas and greenery.

Monica Magcalas of Atlanta, Ga., and Angela Mosley of Mobile, Ala., were maids of honor.

Bridesmaids were Alexis Jackson of New York, N.Y., Jasmine Lee of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kiarra Walden of Nashville, Tenn., Miya Smith of Nashville, Tenn., and Khadijah Owens of Washington, D.C.

Aaron Wise Greensboro, N.C., served as best man.

Groomsmen were Dontavis Funderburk of Minneapolis Minn., Delonta Wilson of Phoenix Ariz., Elijah Gore of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Vincent Sanders of Portland, Ore., Teekie Majors of Rockville, N.C., and Joe Randolph of Kansas City, Mo.

Ushers were Anson Gathers, Salem Gathers, Graeme Cruz and Davontae Singleton, friends of the couple.

Elizabeth Jenkins, sister of the bride, and Kimora Gathers were flower girls.

Marcus Jenkins, brother of the bride, was ringbearer.

The ushers distributed programs.

Michelle Summers of Your Signature Events designed the ceremony and reception.

The reception was held inside the dining room of the yacht club.

After a wedding trip to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, the couple resides in Washington, D.C.

Events held before the wedding included an after rehearsal luncheon March 24 hosted by the bride’s grandparents and both parents of the couple in the Old Village of Mount Pleasant during which time the couple chose to present their attendants with gifts, and a party for the groom hosted by the groomsmen in Las Vegas, Nev., in February; and a shower hosted by the bridesmaids New York, N.Y., the same weekend in February.
