Rogers-Malpass
Whitney White Rogers and John-Taylor Malpass of Roxboro, N.C., exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 30, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. at Concord United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Karl Neuschaffer and the Rev. Scott Hardy officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Russell Rogers of Roxboro and Wendy Yarboro of Roxboro and the granddaughter of Jimmy and Jane Rogers of Roxboro and the late Ruffin and Jean White of Roxboro.
She is a graduate of Person Senior High School and North Carolina State University. She is employed as a teacher at Northern Middle School in Person County Schools.
The groom is the son of R. Chris and Andrea Malpass of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Robert L. and Christine Malpass of Goldsboro and Jan Holtsclaw and the late Rev. Thomas Holtsclaw of Roxboro.
He is a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School. He is employed as a mechanic and a musician at Better Cable Systems and The Malpass Brothers.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a wore an elegant ballgown by Justin Alexander made of silk dupion with piped neckline and waistline, full gathered skirt with pockets, tulle-covered buttons down the cathedral train and a crystal-beaded belt with satin ribbon. She wore a cathedral-length veil.
Alyson Johnson of Roxboro, N.C., was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Heidi Clark of Roxboro, N.C., Lizzy Brown of Timberlake, N.C., Kelci Barnette of Raleigh, N.C., Rhian Merwald of Raleigh, N.C., Molly Kearney of Wilmington, N.C., Morgan Weiss of Galveston, Texas, and Linda Malpass of Goldsboro, N.C.
R. Chris Malpass served as best man.
Groomsmen were Christopher Malpass of Goldsboro, N.C., Randy Gray of LaGrange, N.C., Cory Williams of LaGrange, N.C., Andy Lauterbach of LaGrange, N.C., Brian Batten of New Bern, N.C., Rusty Rogers of Raleigh, N.C., and Glenn Yarboro of Roxboro, N.C.
Vivian Hammock of Grifton, N.C., was flower girl.
Barrett Malpass of Goldsboro was ringbearer.
Betsy Summerlin directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Kelsey Perkins.
Music was provided by a string quartet from Corda Entertainment.
The bride’s parents hosted the reception at Virginia International Raceway Gallery.
After a wedding trip to an undisclosed location, the couple resides in Roxboro.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Old Country Club Steakhouse in Roxboro.
Events held before the wedding included a party honoring the couple hosted by Randy Gray and Vangie Combs at the Gray home in May; a shower in August at the Satterfield home hosted by Rob and Mindy Satterfield, along with members of the bride’s family; a miscellaneous shower in August at the home of Jan Holtsclaw; and a honey-do shower in September at the Homestead in Roxboro hosted by friends of the couple, Tommy and Ann Lawrence and Jay and Nancy Neville.
