Miller-Hackmann
Mary Katherine Miller and Edward Augustus Hackmann, both of Raleigh, exchanged vows in an outdoor ceremony Sept. 20, 2014, at 5:30 p.m. in the White Garden at Graylyn Estate in Winston-Salem, with the Rev. David Hackmann, the groom’s uncle, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Howard Miller of Winston-Salem and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Miller of Winston-Salem and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Sidney Trent of Roanoke, Va.
She received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and science education from North Carolina State University, where she was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.
She is employed as a math teacher and cheerleading coach for the Wake County Public School System.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Augustus Hackmann of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Reverend Dr. and Mrs. Augustus Hackmann of Baltimore, Md., and Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Edward Little of Goldsboro.
He received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business management from North Carolina State University.
He is employed as a project manager for SilverSky in Raleigh.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an Allure Couture vintage-inspired ivory gown featuring venice lace.
The maids of honor were Stefanie Barton of Cary and Meredith Wilson of Raleigh.
Bridesmaids were the groom’s sisters, Kim Dowd of Asheville and Robin Leib and Brooke King, both of Goldsboro; Leigh Habegger of Washington, D.C.; and Katherine McMillen of New York City.
They wore Donna Morgan long chiffon emerald dresses.
The groom’s father served as best man.
Groomsmen were the bride’s brother, Trent Miller of Winston-Salem; the groom’s brothers-in-law, Mike Dowd of Asheville and Shaun Leib and Parker King, both of Goldsboro; Grayson Parker of Goldsboro; and Shivar Person of New Bern.
The junior bridesmaid was the groom’s niece, Lily Dowd, who escorted the hounds of honor, Chase and Hudson, the couple’s dogs.
Ushers were Jonathan Lovejoy and Michael Lovejoy, both of Raleigh.
The ceremony reader was the groom’s nephew, Porter Dowd.
The wedding coordinators were Terri Crawford and Kim Synder.
Wedding flowers were designed by Sherwood Flower Shop.
The wedding cake was provided by Dewey’s Bakery.
Ceremony music was performed by University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
A reception hosted by the bride’s parents was held in the Manor House at Graylyn Estate, with entertainment by The Dickens Band.
After a wedding trip to the Eastern Carribean, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
A rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom’s parents was held on the patio at Fratellis Restaurant with entertainment by Porter Dowd, DJ.
Events that were held before the wedding included an engagement party hosted by the wedding party held in Raleigh; a pig picking hosted by Mrs. Laura Shivar and Mr. Jimmy Person and held in Goldsboro; a bridal tea hosted by the bride’s family, Mrs. Janet Huskins and Mrs. Andrea Eller, held at Forsyth Country Club; and a bridal luncheon held at Spring House Restaurant in Winston-Salem.
