Fidler-Gray
Patricia Jane “PJ” Fidler of Wilmington and Lindsay “Garth” Gray Jr. of Wilmington exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 3, 2014, at 5:30 in the evening at Cape Fear Country Club, with the Rev. Nancy Summerlin, cousin of the bride, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. John Edwin Fidler Jr. and Anne Agee Fidler of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Etta Jane Judge Fidler and the late Dr. John Edwin Fidler of Summersville, W. Va. and the late William Floyd and Patricia Parker Agee of Huntington, W. Va.
P.J. graduated from East Carolina University in 2010 with a degree in hospitality management. She was active with Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She is employed as a travel agent at AAA.
The groom is the son of Lindsay Garth and Katherine Allen Gray of Greenville and the grandson of the late Howard and Greta Garth Gray of Winston-Salem and Young Hawkins and Helen Boyette Allen of Kinston.
Garth graduated from East Carolina University in 2011 with a degree in construction management. He was an active member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He is employed as construction sales at Builders First Source.
Both P.J. and Garth graduated from Arendell Parrott Academy in Kinston, N.C.
The bride was escorted by her father, Dr. John “Bud” Fidler and given in marriage by her parents.
P.J.’s dress was a Justin Alexander-Private label. She wore her grandmother Patricia Agee’s wedding veil, a Brussels lace chapel-length veil that her mimi had purchased over in Brussels more than 60 years ago. Her bouquet was made of white peonies, ranunculus, garden spray roses and white wax flowers.
P.J. had two maids of honors, her cousin, Miss Hannah Ladd Brown of Lexington, Ky., and Miss Samantha Leigh Brody of New York, N.Y.
Bridesmaids were Miss Natalie Adele Hamstead of Greenville, N.C., Miss Ashley Elizabeth Keel of Greenville, Mrs. Hillary Varner McLawhorn of Greenville, Mrs. Jennifer Johnson Pike of Kansas City, Mo., and Miss Melissa Cotten Wilkerson of Raleigh, N.C.
Honorary bridesmaid was Mrs. Taylor Nichols Herendeen of Greenville.
Allen Bahnson Gray ofJackson, Wyo., bother of the groom, served as best man.
Groomsmen were Bradley Anderson Gray of Greenville, Charles Ryan Harris of Charlotte, N.C., Taylor Akel Rouse of Wilmington, N.C., Christopher Ryan Rowlett of Highpoint, N.C., Daniel Harding Stowe Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y., Wayne Wright Woodlard II of Bath, N.C., and John Matthews Wooten of Raleigh, N.C.
Ushers were William Agee Fidler and John Edwin Fidler III of Goldsboro, N.C., brothers of the bride; Beau Whitehurst Corey of Charlotte, N.C.; and Stacy McDonald Cline of Wilmington.
Isla Evangeline Filipek of Lakewood, Ohio, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.
Roberta Danforth directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Lauren Lambertus Warrem of Raleigh, N.C., and Leslie Garriss Maroules of Kinston, N.C. Katherine Healey Gleaton of Pawley’s Island, S.C., cousin of the bride, and Mary Cristina Schooler of Dallas, Texas, distributed programs.
Wedding music was provided by Dockside Strings.
The cocktail wedding reception was held at Cape Fear Country Club and hosted by the bride’s parents.
The rehearsal Dinner and after rehearsal dinner party were hosted by the groom’s parents at the Surf Club in Wrightsville Beach.
Events held before the wedding included a quad engagement party at the home of the John Wootens in Greenville; a surprise miscellaneous shower given by P.J.’s friends at AAA; a Derby themed bridal shower given by the bridesmaids; an engagement party givenby Greenville friends at Winslow’s in Greenville; a joint bachelorette cruise with Natalie Hamstead; a welcome-to-the-weekend party given by the bride’s parents; a lingerie shower given by the maids of honor; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon honoring P.J. and her bridesmaids was hosted by P.J.’s aunts, Susan Brown, Tricia Gaetz and Amy Gleaton, at the Oceanic Restaurant in Wrightsville Beach.
After a wedding trip to Anguilla, British West Indies, the couple resides in Wilmington.
