Parks-Jackson
Morgan Elizabeth Parks and William Dexter Jackson II exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 11, 2012, at 6 p.m at Walnut Creek Country Club, with the Rev. Richard Cuddington officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Nelson and Jill Parks of Seven Springs and the granddaughter of Irene Parks and the late Wesley Parks of Seven Springs, Kenneth and Sue Jones and Harold and Faye Barwick of Mount Olive.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Spring Creek High School and East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 2008. She is a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington for her master’s in Nursing-family nurse practitioner degree. She is currently employed as a registered nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The groom is the son of William Jackson of Mount Olive and Veronica Jackson of Wilmington. He is the grandson of Dexter and Helen Jackson, the late Joyce Jackson and the late Lathan Wiggins of Mount Olive and the late Hope Sutton of Calypso.
The groom is a 2005 graduate of North Duplin High School. He is self employed with Jackson Farming Company.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless ivory beaded lace mermaid gown with a ruched sweetheart neckline, hand-sewn Alencon lace appliques on the bodice,and a semi-cathedral length train.
Her headpiece was an finger-length waterfall veil outlined with crystal beads.
The bride carried a clutch-style bouquet of white hydrangea and Virginia and bridal blush roses interspersed with freesia accented with purple lisianthus, caspia and crystals. It was surrounded by variegated pittosporum greenery and bound by ivory lace remnants from her mother’s wedding gown studded with pearls.
Skyler Parks, sister of the bride, and Scarlett Jackson, sister of the groom, served as maids of honor.
Bridesmaids were, friends of the bride, Riley Barwick, Brittany Jones, Carrie Warren and Sara Whitfield.
Honorary bridemaids were Karen Benton, Megan Kornegay, Jessica Meisenhelder and Jamie Miller, friends of the bride.
William Jackson was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Owen Benton, Anthony Grady, Joe Lancaster and Drew Lesley, friends of the groom.
Ashton Cox, cousin of the bride, served as an usher.
Tanner Smith was flower girl, and Hunt Pate was ringbearer.
Shelby Benton directed the wedding and reception. Presiding at the register were Jannah Pate and Joy Pate.
A program of wedding music was provided by Blair Mozingo and Blake Kearney, vocalists; and Eric Knoll, guitarist.
The bride’s parents hosted a reception following the ceremony in the ballroom at Walnut Creek Country Club. Roy and Eileen Whitfield greeted guests at the reception.
After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Mount Olive.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Walnut Creek Country Club.
Events before the wedding included a ladies luncheon for a Set the Table shower at Walnut Creek Country Club May 12 hosted by Shelby Benton, Betty Edwards, Wanda Howard and Sue Jones; a choose-your-room shower hosted by the brides coworkers at Murphys Resturant May 25; an around-the-clock shower hosted by church friends at the home of Sue Beaman June 2; a luau dinner party June 10 hosted by James Ray and Karen Cox; a bachelorette weekend and lingerie shower in Myrtle Beach, S.C., July 20-22 hosted by bridesmaids and honorary bridesmaids; a bachelor weekend July 20-22 hosted by groomsmen in Atlantic City, N.J.; a miscellaneous shower held July 29 hosted by the Parks family at Northeast Free Will Baptist Church; a bridesmaids’ luncheon Aug. 4 hosted by Gloria Flowers at her home; a bride and bridesmaids pampering Aug. 10 hosted by Eileen and Sara Whitfield at Fashion Nails; and a wedding day lunch for the groom and groomsmen hosted by Jamie Grady and Sharon Jeanes at Ribeyes Steakhouse.
