Meredith Mevis Crawford and Christopher Wayne Jackson exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 21, 2012, at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph United Methodist Church in Pikeville, with the Rev. Tommy Haynes officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Sheila Sasser Crawford and the late James Leslie Crawford III of Pikeville and the granddaughter of Mevis Crawford and the late James Leslie Crawford Jr. of Pikeville and Wilma Sasser and the late Norwood Sasser of Mount Olive.

She graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 2006 and nursing school at Wayne Community College in 2011. She is employed as a registered nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The groom is the son of Gary Daniel Jackson of Dudley and Deborah Carroll Jackson of Dudley and the grandson of the late Robert of Snow Hill and Margaret Jackson of Goldsboro, Doris Daniels of Mount Olive and the late Robert Faircloth of Clinton.

He graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 2002 and Basic Law Enforcement Training at Wayne Community College in 2004. He is employed as a patrol deputy with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

The bride was escorted by her mother and given in marriage by her family.

She wore an elegant strapless gown of ivory satin back taffeta. The bodice of the gown featured a slight sweetheart neckline and fully beaded bodice. The bodice of the gown was beaded with sequins, crystals and seed pearls. The dropped waistline flowed into a full ballgown skirt with accented pickups. The back of the gown featured a corset and a semi-cathedral train.

She wore a fingertip length veil with matching pearls along the edge.

The bride carried a clutch bouquet of white stock, coral roses,yellow and peach mini gerbera daisies and purple statice with the stems wrapped with coral ribbon and tuxedo pearls.

Lindsay Crawford, sister of bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Leslie Crawford, sister of bride; Sarah Crawford, sister of bride; Christina Crawford, cousin of bride; and Jamee Dawson, friend of the bride.

Danny Jackson, father of groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Gary Jackson, brother of groom; Donald Mercer,friend of groom; Stevie Howell, friend of groom; and Matt Strickland, friend of groom.

Ushers were Byron Sasser, uncle of bride; Travis Sasser, uncle of bride; and David crawford, uncle of bride.

Sydney Graybeal and Kamryn Graybeal were flower girls.

Daniel Jackson, nephew of groom, was ringbearer.

Janet Davis and Kate Leahy directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Kristen Sasser. Kristen Sasser also distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Randy Prosser, pianist and organist, and Christina Crawford, vocalist.

The bride’s mother hosted a reception in the fellowship hall at Pleasant Grove Church. Hank and Shari Stewart, friends of the family, greeted guests. Music was provided by Luke Vail. Linda Williamson, friend of the family, served as a reception coordinator. Other reception helpers were Mona Crawford, Donna Merritt,Beth Hill, Lisa Sasser, Beth Croom and Vikki Mercer.

After a cruise to the Bahamas, the couple resides in Goldsboro.

A rehearsal dinner was given by the groom’s parents in the fellowship hall at St. Joseph United Methodist Church catered by the Country Skillet.

Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower June 3, 2012, at St. Joseph Methodist Church hosted by the United Methodist Women; a miscellaneous shower June 14 at Wayne Memorial hospital hosted by Nicole Bar, Erin Gray and Jessica Harris, coworkers of the bride; a miscellaneous shower June 23 at Emmaus Church hosted by the groom’s family; a bridal lucheon at Logans Roadhouse hosted by Hope Skelton, Stephanie Adams, Joan Stafford, Kelly West, Kathy Walker and Beth Croom during which time the bride chose to present bridesmaids’ gifts.
