Haskins - Cox
Miranda Cox and Ernie Haskins of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 10 at 3 p.m. at Cardinal Club in Raleigh, with general bishop Alton A. Smith and elder Howard E. McNair officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Cox Jr. and Stephene B. Cox of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Junious and Martha Fryar Cox of Giddensville, the late Robert Barfield of Mount Olive and Laura Juanita Barfield of Goldsboro.
She graduated from Goldsboro High School, Fayetteville State University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and Baltimore International Culinary College with an associate degree in professional baking and pastry. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She is employed with Southwest Airlines as a flight attendant and as the business manager at Haskins Funeral Home.
The groom is the son of Elsie Barnes Haskins and the late James Thomas Haskins of Wilson, the stepson of the late Clarice Haskins and the grandson of the late Ernest and Mertie Clifton Haskins of Wilson, the late Cleophus Barnes of Pinetops and Naomi Hodges Ellis of Philadelphia, Pa.
He graduated from James B. Hunt High School in Wilson, North Carolina Central University majoring in public administration and Fayetteville Technical Community College with a funeral directing diploma. He is owner and funeral director at Haskins Funeral Home.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white A-line satin one-shoulder dress with a sweetheart neckline and princess seams.
Her headpiece was a birdcage veil with white rose embellishments.
The bride carried a bouquet of white roses.
Bobbi Boatwright Wade of Alexandria, Va., was her friend’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Sophie Dinkins Carr of Charlotte, friend of the bride; Nikki Clark Rawls of Southern Pines, sorority sister of the bride; and Candice Crowell Boyd of Clinton, Md., and Pia Williams of Springfield Gardens, N.Y., cousins of the groom.
Hal Haskins, Norfolk, Va., was his brother’s best man.
Groomsmen were Brian Cox of Goldsboro, brother of the bride; Stacey Crowell of Clinton, Md., uncle of the groom; Shawn Haskins of Queens, N.Y., cousin of the groom; and Stevie Cox of Chadbourne, cousin of the bride.
Ushers were Victor Cox and Brandon Benders, friends of the couple.
Quenn Wade, goddaughter of the bride, was flower girl. Tyson Wade, godson of the bride, was ringbearer.
Shawn Haskins Jr. of Queens, godson of the groom, was bell ringer.
Washandra Fryar Oliver of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, was the bride’s helper.
Special helpers were Annette McDonald of Fort Washington, Md., Brigette Barfield and Mary McKoy of Goldsboro, aunts of the bride.
A program of wedding music was provided by Averil Williams of Goldsboro, pianist, and Pam Wilder Dudley of Goldsboro, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance reception was held.
After their wedding trip to Las Vegas, Nev., the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a lingerie shower July 31 at Walnut Creek Country Club hosted by Tiffany Best and the bridal party; an engagement dinner Aug. 6 at the home of Bridgette Barfield hosted by Ms. Barfield, Mary McKoy and Annette McDonald, aunts of the bride; a miscellaneous and gift card shower Aug. 13 at the home of Lillie Barnett hosted by Ms. Barnett, Glenda White, Vickie Spriggs and Hattie Frederick; and a bachelor dinner Sept. 2 at McCormick and Schmick’s in Raleigh hosted by the staff of Haskins Funeral Home.
A rehearsal dinner was held at Cardinal Club.
