Walters - Sanders
Kelsea Leanne Sanders of Dudley and John William Walters of Kinston exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with pastor Doug Bartlett officiating.
The bride is the daughter of James Thomas Sanders III and Angela McNamara Sanders of Dudley and the granddaughter of Frances Corine Sanders and the late James Thomas Sanders Jr. of Mount Olive and Annie Ruth McNamara and the late James Elbert McNamara of Dudley.
She is a 2007 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and licensure in middle grades mathematics. She is employed as a sixth-grade teacher at Grifton School.
The groom is the son of Joseph West Walters and Linda Brown Walters of Bladenboro and the grandson of Mary Nell Walters and the late Richard Walters of Lumberton and the late William Dacie Brown and Ruth Brown of Bladenboro.
He is a 2005 graduate of West Bladen High School and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He is employed as a field representative for Woodmen of the World.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a gown with a strapless neckline with a fan shape pattern and a notched V in the center, asymmetrical pleating on the waist, a trumpet skirt with ruffled floral patterns, a button-up back closure and a train to complete the design.
Her headpiece was a two-tiered fingertip-length veil edged with drop crystals.
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of orange lilies, white miniature callas, green mini hydrangeas and green hypericum berries.
Tara Tillman was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Kristen Beaman, Danielle Keel, Kelsey Rathbone, Courtney Taylor and Hannah Westbrook of Mount Olive, Haley Gardner, Heather Pait of Bladenboro, sister of the groom, Alex Walters of Lumberton and Stephanie Walters of Bladenboro, sister-in-law of the groom.
Joseph Walters was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Jeremy Carroll of Lynchburg, Va., and Adam Walters of Lumberton, cousins of the groom; Jordan Carter of Whiteville; John Keimig of Middletown, Md.; Jordan McPherson of Clarendon; Travis Pait of Bladenboro, brother-in-law of the groom; Gabe Pinkston of Aberdeen; Nolan Sanders of Dudley, brother of the bride; and Craig Walters of Bladenboro, brother of the groom.
Carlos Vega of Colchester, Vt., was the usher.
Honorary bridesmaids were Stephanie Sykes and Rachel Varga of Greenville.
Megan Pait of Bladenboro, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Jackson Pait of Bladenboro, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.
Robin Hall directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Mandy Warren. Karen Morgan distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by pastor Kevin Mooring and Amy Mooring, pianists, and Mrs. Brandi Worth, pastor Kevin Mooring and the groom, vocalists.
Angie and Chuck Gardner and Lance Hall greeted guests.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Wayne Shrine Club in Dudley. Jennifer and Duane Lewis and Shelton and Lisa Lewis greeted guests. Polly May and Cindy Leonard served the wedding cake.
After their wedding trip to Maui, Hawaii, and Las Vegas, Nev., the couple will reside in Kinston.
Events held before the wedding included an around-the-clock shower June 25 at the home of Sue Beaman hosted by Ms. Beaman, Debra Barwick, Eileen Whitfield, Tammy Keel, Jill Parks, Debbie Holmes, Lisa Whitfield and Jo Brown; a his and hers shower July 23 at Woodmen of the World in Bladenboro hosted by Heather and Travis Pait and Stephanie and Craig Walters; a miscellaneous shower Aug. 7 at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church hosted by Angie Gardner, Lisa Lewis, Robin Hall, Jennifer Lewis, Meg Jackson, Annie Ruth McNamara and Mandy Warren; a bachelorette beach bash and lingerie shower Aug. 11-14 in Emerald Isle hosted by Kelsey Rathbone, Tara Tillman, Hannah Westbrook and Haley Gardner; a miscellaneous shower Aug. 14 in Bladenboro hosted by ladies of Galeed Baptist Church; a housewarming shower Aug. 16 at the Folded Napkin Restaurant in Kinston hosted by Woodmen of the World staff; a bridesmaids’ luncheon Sept. 7 at the home of Lisa Lewis hosted by the bride during which time the bride presented gifts to her attendants; and an ABC shower Sept. 11 at Mays Chapel Church in Dudley.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Sept. 23 at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.
