John - Hodson
Meredith Roush Hodson and Matthew Richard John exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius, with the Rev. Mike Bailey officiating.
The bride is the daughter of David Allen Hodson of Cornelius and Marsha Hudson Hodson of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Robert and Dorothy Hodson and the late Frank and Geraldine Hudson of Hillsboro, Ohio.
She graduated from Wayne Christian School in 2004 and Wingate University in 2008.
The groom is the son of Richard Francis and Susan Whitehead John of New Canaan, Conn., and the grandson of Pauline Whitehead and the late Robert Whitehead of Stamford, Conn., and Frank and Betty John of Greenwich, Conn.
He graduated from New Canaan High School in 2003 and Wingate University in 2007.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory satin gown and her mother’s cathedral-length veil edged with lace.
Laura Lee Hodson was her sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Christine Levine and Rachel John, sisters of the groom, and Adrienne Earnhardt, Jessica Haynes and Mary Clyde Peacock, friends of the bride.
Garrett Smith was his friend’s best man.
Groomsmen were Jarrett Hodson, brother of the bride; Jeffrey Levine, brother-in-law of the groom; and Jeffrey Kinberg, Billy Manimbo and Michael Tobitsch, friends of the groom.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Peninsula Yacht Club.
After their wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Huntersville.
Events held before the wedding included a bachelorette weekend hosted by Garrett Smith; a bridal shower in Connecticut hosted by Christine Levine and Rachel John; a bridal shower in Goldsboro hosted by Moms in Touch prayer group; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon hosted by the bride’s mother.
The groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner Sept. 23.
