Hughes - Graham
Kelly Brooke Graham of Little River, S.C., and Whitney Harold Hughes of Little River exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 24 at 5:30 p.m. at Tabor City Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tommy Gore and the Rev. Bruce Powell officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Henry Scott and Frankye Denning Graham of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Hilda Westbrook Graham and the late Jesse Ervin Graham of Mount Olive and Peggy Overman Denning and the late Franklin Delano Denning of Goldsboro.
She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. She is employed as executive director of Loris/Seacoast Healthcare Foundation.
The groom is the son of Walter Harold and Sylvia Gore Hughes of Tabor City and the grandson of the late Needham Gore and Marie Gore Hughes, the late Marshall Weldon Gore and Mazie Dutton Gore of Tabor City.
He graduated from North Carolina State University in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in business management. He is employed as a senior loan officer at New American Mortgage.
The bride wore a strapless royal satin mermaid gown with a sweetheart neckline. The ruched bodice was designed with asymmetrical satin pleats that continued across the length of the chapel-length train. It featured a hand-embroidered and beaded sash with Swarovski crystal details at the waistline.
Her headpiece was a cathedral-length veil with coordinating embroidery and Swarovski crystal detailing.
The bride carried a white clutch bouquet of hydrangea, hypericum and stephanotis with pearl heads wrapped in an ivory satin wrap.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
Megan Stanley Kesler of Greensboro was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Holly Hill Bishop, Angela Whitener Maier and Melissa Kaye Sullivan of Raleigh, Amber O’Reilly Denning of Durham, Kasey Denning Lane of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, Rebekah Bishop Wallace of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Jennifer Hughes Williamson of Whiteville, sister of the groom.
Walter Harold Hughes was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Kristopher Glenn Denning of Durham, cousin of the bride; Justin Nicholas Hughes of Little River, brother of the groom; Needham Gore Hughes IV of Tabor City and Nicholas Gavlin Hughes of Whiteville, cousins of the groom; Jason Curry Greene of Little River; Leon George Jackson III of Lexington; and Jay Darby Wilson of Shallotte.
Ushers were Todd William DeMakes, Matthew Westmoreland Hambrick, Craig Michael Lee and Edward Allen Scarce
Allie McKenzie Lane, Karlie Rae Lane and Mary-Gregory Rivers Williamson, niece of the groom, were flower girls.
Jill Miller-Denning of Washington, D.C., directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Katherine Patricia Sheridan and Teresa Douglas Smith of Raleigh.
A program of wedding music was provided by Dr. John Delano Denning of Durham, pianist; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bruce Kelly of Goldsboro, vocalists; and Kyle Albert Hughes of Shallotte, trumpeter.
Charles Gregory Williamson, brother-in-law of the groom, was Scripture reader.
Following the ceremony an outdoor reception was held at the home of the groom’s parents.
After their wedding trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the couple will reside in Little River.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Surf Golf and Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach.
