Franks - Davis
Tamaya Iman Davis and Alvin Bruce Franks Jr. exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 10 at 3 p.m. at Jumping Run Church in LaGrange, with pastor W. Anthony Lawson Jr. officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Frederick Hoover and Alice Wade Davis of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Herbert and Christine Davis of Dudley and the late Milton Maceo Wade and Mamie Wade Koonce of Kinston.
She attended Goldsboro High School, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and did her graduate studies at Elon University School of Law. She recently passed the North Carolina bar exam.
The groom is the son of Alvin Bruce Franks and Mary Kaye Franks of Kinston and the grandson of Willie Franks Jr. and Evelyn Franks of Pollocksville and the late James and Frances Wiggins of Kinston.
He attended Kinston High School and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He is employed as accounting manager at Providence Place Retirement Communities.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless princess gown of matte satin with a sweetheart neckline. The bodice was embellished with beadwork and Swarovski crystals. The skirt was highlighted with embroidery and beaded hem throughout the entire gown with an embroidery beaded insert featured throughout the cathedral train.
Her headpiece was a cathedral veil with a beaded trim.
The bride carried a floral bouquet with white roses, calla lilies and light and dark blue hydrangeas with rhinestone accents.
Shayla Rhem was matron of honor, while Jonelle Stovall and Renee Gethers were maids of honor.
Bridesmaids were Posha Morgan, Tasha J. Gray, Denise Grant and Tiffany Lucky.
Ra’Shawd Rhem was best man.
Groomsmen were Sean Howard, Doug McKoy, Damaris Franks, Maurice Franks Jr. and Keith Neal.
Ushers were LeDell Lucky and Derrick Dove.
Ranisha Tyson and Ramia Tyson were junior bridesmaids.
Arianna Bailey and Samaria Blackmon was flower girl. Benjamin Vernado was ringbearer.
Monica Glover directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Lori Lawson. Tesha Isler distributed programs.
Hostesses were Damesha Smith, Brandi Hinnant-Crawford and Stacy Whitney.
Tiffany D. Atkins was the poet.
A program of wedding music was provided by Luguzy Atkins, pianist, and Renita Allen Dawson, Percy Royal and Felica Dixon, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Walnut Creek Country Club.
After their wedding cruise to the western Caribbean, the couple will reside in Greensboro.
Events held before the wedding included a shower May 15 in Greensboro hosted by the bridal attendants; a shower Aug. 6 at Jefferson United Methodist Church hosted by United Methodist Women; and a shower Aug. 20 in Goldsboro hosted by Epsilon Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
A rehearsal dinner was held at McCalls.
