Stroud - Holzworth
Heather Holzworth of Goldsboro and Cory Stroud of Winston-Salem exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 20 at 5 p.m. at Freedom Baptist Church in Goldsboro, with pastor David Jackson officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Diane Holzworth of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Mary Holzworth and the late Clyde Holzworth and the late Sylvester and Laura Wise of Indiana, Pa.
She graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1995, a 1999 and 2003 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in education and a 2003 graduate of Campbell University with a master’s degree in school administration. She is employed as a teaching and learning coach with the Wayne County School System.
The groom is the son of Elizabeth Ann Thompson of Seven Springs and the late Roger Stroud and the grandson of the late Darlee and Katie Stroud and the late Simpson and Maybelle Price of Seven Springs.
He graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1992 and North Carolina State University in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He is employed as an electrical engineer with Analog Devices in Greensboro.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white satin A-line gown with lace embroidered sleeves, side draping, crystal beading on the bodice and skirt, a sweetheart neckline and a chapel train.
The bride carried a clutch bouquet of white lilies and Latin breeze roses.
Aixa Kimes and Kelli Perry, friends of the bride, were matrons of honor.
Darrell Stroud was his brother’s best man.
Groomsmen were Brad Price, cousin of the groom, and Michael Kabler and Chris Johnson, friends of the groom.
Ana Calderon, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.
Mrs. Ira Edwards directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Alexandra Kimes.
David Bennett was Scripture reader.
A program of wedding music was provided by Machelle Kingsley, pianist, and Scott Batson, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception in the church fellowship hall. Audrey Price and Geneva Green, aunts of the groom, served the wedding cake.
After their wedding cruise to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Winston-Salem.
Events held before the wedding included a jewelry party May 2 at the home of Wendy Hooks; a bridal tea party shower June 4 at the home of Aixa Kimes hosted by Ms. Kimes and Kelli Perry; a bridal shower June 12 in Freedom Baptist Church fellowship hall hosted by the ladies’ prayer group; a bridal luncheon June 14 at Nino’s hosted by co-workers from Mount Olive Middle School; and a shower July 31 at the home of Audrey Price hosted by the groom’s family.
The groom’s mother hosted a rehearsal dinner Aug. 19 in the church fellowship hall.
