CLYMER, N.Y. — Nicole Christine Provenzano of Goldsboro and Richard Duane Shaffer Jr. of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 27, 2011 at 6 p.m. at the Peek'n Peak Resort and Spa, with Rev. Barbara Brown officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Joseph Louis and Christa Anne (Stoll) Provenzano of Lockport, N.Y. and the granddaughter of Betty Stoll and the late Robert W. Stoll of Lockport.

She is a 2002 graduate of Lockport High School in Lockport. She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 2006 from Niagara University in Lewiston, NY, and a master’s degree in literacy instruction in 2008, also from Niagara University. She is employed as kindergarten teacher at Eastern Wayne Elementary.

The groom is the son of Patricia Louise (Naeger) Shaffer of Latrobe, Pa. and the late Richard Duane Shaffer Sr.

He is a 1994 graduate of Ligioner Valley High School in Ligioner, PA. He joined the United States Air Force on February 17, 1999 and served as an active duty member until 2009. He now serves as a civil service employee and United States Air Force reservist. He is employed as an Air Reserve Technician at United States Air Force.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a white taffeta pick-up gown with beaded metallic lace bodice, inverted V-empire, and lace up back. She wore a silver tiara featuring rhinestone scroll detail, crystals and pearls. She wore a 2 tier elbow veil with scalloped beaded edge.

Samantha Provenzano was her sister’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Amanda Gregory, friend of the bride, Kristina Doyle, aunt of the bride, Robin Johnson, sister of the groom, and Vickie Jellison, sister of the groom.

Gene Burkholder, closest friend of the groom served as best man.

Groomsmen were Dan Twarozynski, friend of the groom, Adam Thomas, cousin of the bride, Shawn Johnson, brother-in-law of the groom, and Anthony Jellison, brother-in-law of the groom.

Breigh Shaffer was the flower girl.

Kim Kantola directed the wedding. Chas Perry and Ryan Thomas distributed programs.

Miles Patterson of World Wide Productions served as the sound technician for the ceremony and DJ at the reception.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in The Retreat lodge at the Peek’n Peak Resort and Spa.

After a wedding trip to Emerald Isle, the couple resides in Goldsboro.

The bride’s parents held a rehearsal dinner in the Nordstrom Room at the Peek’n Peak Resort and Spa.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower on March 11 at the home of Teri Holmes hosted by Teri, aunt of the bride, and the bride’s mother and sister; a bachelorette shower on March 12 hosted by the bride’s sister; and a shower on April 14 at Eastern Wayne Elementary hosted by Amanda Gregory and Stephanie Webber, friends of the bride.
