Lindsay Alane Ballance of Hillsborough and Daniel Patrick Collins of Hillsborough exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 6 at 4 p.m. at Union Grove United Methodist Church in Hillsborough, with the Rev. Rich Greenway and the Rev. Judy Drye officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Todd and Deborah Mercer Ballance of Fremont and the granddaughter of Willard and Eleanor Mooring Ballance and the late Norwood and Ruth Bogue Mercer of Fremont.

She is a 2002 honor graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2006 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science, where she was a Johnston Scholar. She attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for a master’s degree in social work and Duke University for a master’s of divinity.

The groom is the son of David and Jean Meyer Collins of Canton, Ga., and the grandson of Hilda Ethridge Collins of Mount Vernon, Ga., the late John Collins of Elberton, Ga., and the late George and Rebecca Felton Meyer of Savannah, Ga.

He is a 2005 honor graduate of Cherokee High School in Georgia, a 2007 graduate of Young Harris College with an associate degree and a 2010 summa cum laude graduate of Lee University with a bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministry. He attends Duke University for a master’s of divinity degree.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a strapless white gown of satin and chiffon. The beaded bodice had a sweetheart neckline and flowed into a full A-line skirt with a chapel-length train accented with sequins.

Her headpiece was a fingertip veil accented with sequins and crystals.

The bride carried a bouquet of blue hydrangeas, green roses, blue nigella, rosemary, hosta and magnolia leaves.

Hannah Crumpler and Jessica Wiltshire were their friend’s maids of honor.

Bridesmaids were Katlyn Ballance and Brittany Ballance, sisters of the bride, and Stephanie Byrd, friend of the bride.

Christian Case was his friend’s best man.

Groomsmen were Christopher Collins and Kevin Collins, brothers of the groom; Landry Ballance, brother of the bride; and Richard Merrefield, friend of the groom.

Mia Crumpler, friend of the bride, was the flower girl. Andy Kavul, friend of the couple, was the ringbearer.

Kathy Brinn, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Kayla Walton, friend of the couple. Anna and Amber Rose, cousins of the bride, distributed programs.

Readers were Alexis Collins, sister-in-law of the groom, Christian Case and Hannah Crumpler and Jessica Wiltshire.

Acolytes were Aleah and Elyse Brinn, cousins of the bride.

A program of wedding music was provided by Blaine and Christina Russell, friends of the couple.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.

After their wedding trip to Walt Disney World, Orlando, Fla., the couple will reside in Hillsborough.

Events held before the ceremony included an engagement party at the home of David and Margaret Mercer hosted by the bride’s uncle, aunt and cousins; a wedding shower at Fremont United Methodist hosted by the bride’s aunts and cousins; a wedding shower at the home of David and Jean Collins hosted by the groom’s mother and Kayla Walton; and a bridal tea Aug. 5 at Washington Duke Inn in Durham hosted by the bride’s mother.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Aug. 5 at Union Grove United Methodist Church.
