Harris-Phillips
Rebecca Anne Phillips and William Manon Harris exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 25 at 5 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Goldsboro, with the Rev. Neal Wingfield officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Tony Mike and Vicki Tillman Phillips of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Edward Emerson and Faye Pittman Phillips and Calvin “Ted” and Alice Bradshaw Tillman of Goldsboro.
She graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 2004, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and East Carolina University in 2010 with a master’s degree in counselor education. She is employed as a school counselor with Wayne County Public Schools.
The groom is the son of Gibbs Buckner Harris and Linda Gaster Wicker of Sanford, the grandson of Florence Buckner Harris, the late Dela Fletcher Harris III and Ernest Preston and Pattie Ladd Gaster of Sanford and the stepson of Katherine Hodges Harris of Sanford and Pressley Alexander Wicker of Sanford.
He graduated from Lee County High School in 2004, Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008 and BB&T's leadership development program in 2008. He is employed as the assistant vice president of payment solutions at BB&T in Raleigh.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory silk taffeta strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline and a washed silk organza skirt embellished with ruched flowers and cotton beaded thread embroidery.
Her headpiece was a cathedral-length veil embellished with an ivory rolled edge and a jeweled headband.
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of lime green cymbidium orchids.
Paige Stewart Harper and Mary Beth Phillips were matrons of honor.
Bridesmaids were Brooke McIntosh, Julie Overman, Samantha Overman, Rachel Rockett and Anja Wicker.
Buck Harris was best man.
Groomsmen were Justin Briggs, Doug Gay, Jason Heiser, Brett Long, Mitchell Phillips, Jackson Wicker and Quinn Wicker.
Ushers were Matthew Overman and Nathan Overman.
Katherine “Kack” Harris and Hanna McKeithan were junior bridesmaids.
Sarah Overman was flower girl.
Lynette Overman directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Cacey-Jane Bunch. Anneliese Bunch distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jill Howell, vocalist; Tommy Howell, vocalist and guitarist; and Dr. Jeremy Thompson, organist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner and dance reception at the Walnut Creek Country Club.
After their wedding trip to St. John and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and the British Virgin Islands, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
Events held before the wedding included an engagement party Jan. 1 in Sanford hosted by groom’s parents; a church shower March 6 in Goldsboro hosted by the ladies of Salem United Methodist Church; a luncheon and shower March 20 in Fremont hosted by Lauren Rouse, friend of the bride; a girls vs. boys party March 27 in Goldsboro hosted by Lynette Overman and Samantha Overman; a cocktail party April 9 in Sanford hosted by family friends of the groom; a kitchen/recipe shower May 7 in Goldsboro hosted by Lynette Overman and Samantha Overman; a beach weekend and cookout May 13 through 15 in Oak Island hosted by family and family friends of the groom; a dinner and shower May 17 at Goldsboro Country Club hosted by Michelle Gurley, family friend of the bride; a cookout May 21 in Sanford hosted by family friends of the groom; a bachelor party over Memorial Day weekend in Las Vegas hosted by the groomsmen; a bachelorette weekend Memorial Day weekend in Charleston, S.C., hosted by the matrons of honor; a shower June 1 at Rosewood Elementary hosted by co-workers of the bride; a dinner party June 4 in Goldsboro hosted by Eddie and Phyllis Radford, family friends of the bride; a shower June 17 at BB&T in Raleigh hosted by co-workers of the groom; a lingerie shower June 23 in Goldsboro hosted by Lynette Overman and Samantha Overman; and a bridesmaids brunch June 24 in Fremont hosted by Lynda Stewart and Paige Harper.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner June 24 at Murphy’s.
