Stephanie Starr Lewis and Timothy Bert West exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Jan. 1 at 11:30 a.m. at Pikeville First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Luther James “Jimmy” Millard, uncle of the bride, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Steve and Emma Kay Lewis of Mount Olive and the granddaughter of Perry and Elmer Lewis of Mount Olive and David and Kay Millard of Dudley.
She is a graduate of Spring Creek High School and Central Carolina Community College in Sanford with an associate degree. She is employed as a registered veterinary technician with Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Huntersville.
The groom is the son of Rudolph “Rudy” Bert West Jr. and Rebecca West of Fremont and the grandson of Frances West of Fremont and Ira Rhodes of Rosewood.
He is a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. He is employed as an assistant plant supervisor with AirGas National Welders in Gastonia.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless white taffeta trumpet gown with ruching. Satin buttons aligned the back closure and led to a sweep train. The gown was embellished with black lace at the neckline and a black crinoline on the hemline. She also wore a pearl necklace and earrings of pearls, diamonds and black onyx.
Her headpiece was a comb adorned with orchids and a fingertip veil.
The bride carried a bouquet of white dendrobium orchids and white spray roses handtied with satin ribbon and a lace hankie given to her at birth from her great-great-aunt, Emma Jones.
The bride’s mother was matron of honor, while Amy Satterfield of Pikeville was her friend’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Leslie Barwick of Mount Olive, cousin of the bride, and Kyleigh Anderson of Raleigh, friend of the bride.
Rudolph Bert West Jr. was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Bryan West of Fremont, brother of the groom, and Greg Robinson of Goldsboro and Stephen Marlowe of Fremont, friends of the groom.
Sara Kathryn Lewis of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Carter Lewis of Mount Olive and Daniel Millard of Pikeville, cousins of the bride, were ringbearers.
Lynne Jackson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Jan Jackson. Maygan Jackson distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Stevie Lewis, brother of the bride, hornist, and Sara McClure of North Wales, Pa., pianist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a pig picking reception in the church fellowship hall. Daphane Swinson and Verlie Pittman of Mount Olive, family friends, were servers. Butch and Mary Dell Lewis of Mount Olive, uncle and aunt of the bride, said goodbyes. Cousins of the bride distributed birdseed.
After their wedding trip to Boone, the couple will reside in Gastonia.
A shower day will be held at the home of the couple.
Events held before the wedding included an engagement dinner Nov. 27 at the home of the bride’s parents; a bridal dinner Dec. 11 at Irregardless Cafe in Raleigh hosted by the matron of maid of honor; a bachelorette party Dec. 11 at Irregardless Cafe in Raleigh hosted by the maid of honor and bridesmaids; and a bachelor party Dec. 11 at the home of Greg Robinson of Goldsboro.
The groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner in the church fellowship hall. The couple chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.
